Volleyball Recap: Erie Finds Home Court Redemption Against Labette County

There's no place like home for Erie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Labette County Grizzlies by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. While the Red Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 17-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Erie easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-12.

Lila Michael paced Erie's offense, picking up six kills. Michael got some help from Kaeleigh Daniels and her 11 assists. Daniels also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Andi Nordt, racking up two apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Labette County lost, don't look at Malaya Broadwell. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs and two aces. Broadwell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Erie's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Labette County, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Erie didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Chanute on the 20th. As for Labette County, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Girard on the 20th.
