Basketball Game Preview: Wahkiakum Mules vs. Willapa Valley Vikings

The Wahkiakum Mules will take on the Willapa Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wahkiakum knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Willapa Valley likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Wahkiakum was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 68-64 to Columbia Adventist Academy.

Meanwhile, Willapa Valley had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Friday. They came out on top against the Chitwhins by a score of 74-63. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Chitwhins are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Willapa Valley's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Wahkiakum, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
