Baseball Game Preview: St. Marys Bears vs. Chapman Irish

St. Marys is 0-10 against Chapman since May of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Bears will challenge the Irish at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

St. Marys made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Rossville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bears fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-4 on Monday. The Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Meanwhile, Chapman came up short against Abilene on Tuesday and fell 8-4.

Aven Woods was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Chapman: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

St. Marys' defeat dropped their record down to 9-13-1. As for Chapman, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

St. Marys couldn't quite finish off Chapman when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 16-14. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
