League recap: Decatur climbs in standings with win

AAA Region 6 recap December 3, 2013

Decatur was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in AAA Region 6.

Blessed Trinity lost to Washington County 46-17 last week, the largest margin of any game. Milton Shelton ran for 142 yards in the defeat.

St. Pius X Catholic's dynamic duo of Joey Connors and Garrett Gooden proved to be unstoppable against Callaway, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Connors threw for 111 yards and Gooden had 58 yards receiving. Ransom Klinger helped St. Pius X Catholic's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.

Shelton provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Blessed Trinity lost to the Golden Hawks. Shelton's key target this week was Colin Bradley, who caught 2 passes for 36 yards.

On the heels of Conor Davis and Shelton, Tim McFarlin's team has had great success on offense. Davis is tops in the league in passing with 1,129 yards, while Shelton has rushed for 1,130 yards this season. Woodward Academy's Quincy Wolff leads the league in receiving yards with 388 on 25 catches.

In 164 carries Dalton Wilson has put up 984 yards this year.

The Golden Lions led the league in points allowed with 35.
