Soccer Game Preview: Garner vs. Fuquay - Varina + How To Watch

Garner hasn't had much luck against Fuquay - Varina recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Bengals at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Fuquay - Varina heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Garner took over last week. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over South Garner on Thursday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Garner's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while South Garner are ranked 369th).

Adrian Montalvo was the driving force of Garner's attack as he scored both of Garner's goals, bringing his season total up to ten goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fuquay - Varina). They came out on top against South Garner by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that Fuquay - Varina have won by exactly two goals.

Garner has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those six matchups. As for Fuquay - Varina, their record is now 7-5-2.

Garner came up short against Fuquay - Varina in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
