            Basketball Recap: Effingham County Rebels vs. Evans Knights        
        
		
        
        
            Effingham County was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight  defeat. They lost  58-35 to the Evans Knights. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings  (they are ranked 420th, while the Knights are ranked 72nd).
 Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Abbi Jones, who  posted five points and six  rebounds. Another player making a difference was  Nakera M Hawkins, who  put up seven  points and 11  boards.
 Evans found their leader in sophomore  Chabria Tate, who  almost  dropped  a triple-double on 20 points, nine  rebounds,  and nine  steals. The dominant performance also gave  Tate a new career-high in  blocks (three).  Janiyah Quiller was another key player,  putting up 14  points and seven  boards.
Effingham County's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Evans, their win was  their seventh straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 20-2.
 Effingham County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  51-44  defeat against Greenbrier on the 31st. As for Evans, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  match,  a  40-25  victory against Lakeside on the 31st.
