Basketball Recap: Mona Shores Sailors vs. Whitehall Vikings
The Mona Shores Sailors fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Whitehall Vikings on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to the Vikings. It was the first time this season that Mona Shores let down their fans at home.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitehall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Stratton, who scored 15 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Stratton scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Camden Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 20 rebounds.
Mona Shores' defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for Whitehall, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mona Shores will take on the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Reeths-Puffer is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road. As for Whitehall, they will be playing at home against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Vikings like a good challenge.
