Softball Recap: Estill County Beats Fleming County for Their Third Straight Victory

Estill County entered their tilt with Fleming County on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Panthers. That's two games straight that the Engineers have won by exactly three runs.

Bella Rice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Callee Snowden was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Sydney Riddell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Estill County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 10-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Estill County's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Fleming County, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-14.

Coming up, Estill County will venture away from home to take on North Laurel at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fleming County, they will host Russell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.14 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
