Mt. Vernon came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Shelbyville Golden Bears by a score of 3-1. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Mt. Vernon's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Shelbyville are ranked 187th).

Mt. Vernon hit Shelbyville with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ethan Ludlow, Brady Webber, and Colin Cress.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Shelbyville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
