Basketball Recap: Providence Country Day Knights vs. Ponaganset Chieftains
Providence Country Day unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 69-57 to the Ponaganset Chieftains on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
Providence Country Day lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gabriel Johnson, who posted 25 points. Maddux Fredericks was another key player, putting up 14 points.
Ponaganset found their leader in sophomore Gabe Mongeon, who went 8-for-16 en route to 28 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Eden, who had four points.
The victory got Ponaganset back to even at 1-1.
