Recap: North Star Cougars vs. Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers

It was a good run, but the North Star Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 97-59 loss at the hands of Berlin Brothersvalley. North Star was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-28.

North Star lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Smith, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Weimer, who scored 20 points.

It was another big night for Pace Prosser, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds for Berlin Brothersvalley. Prosser is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig Jarvis, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists.

North Star's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, their victory was their 16th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Star will square off against Forest Hills at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Forest Hills' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they will head out on the road to face off against Greater Latrobe at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Greater Latrobe is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
