Baseball Game Preview: North Monterey County Condors vs. Pacific Grove Breakers

The North Monterey County Condors will venture away from home to square off against the Pacific Grove Breakers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Pacific Grove took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on North Monterey County, who comes in off a win.

North Monterey County will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Alisal, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Condors won by a run and slipped past the Trojans 4-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Condors, who have now won three games in a row.

Tyler Baldwin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Greg Jimenez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Pacific Grove didn't have quite enough to beat St. Francis on Saturday and fell 3-2. The Breakers haven't had much luck with the Sharks recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

River Lyon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

North Monterey County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Pacific Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
