If Springdale Prep was riding high fresh off their 73-52 takedown of Evergreen Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Springdale Prep Lions fell 57-49 to the Severn School Admirals on Monday. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Springdale Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Samayria Burrison, who went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Burrison has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zing Yinpobil, who posted eight points along with ten boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Springdale Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Severn School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amyah Heyliger led the charge by going 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points. Kendall Austin was another key player, going 6 for 13 en route to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Springdale Prep's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-14. As for Severn School, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Springdale Prep has already played their next matchup, a 59-18 win against Saint James on the 28th. As for Severn School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-46 defeat against St. John's Catholic Prep on the 29th.
