Baseball Recap: Cibola's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cibola waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Eldorado Golden Eagles. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 win the Golden Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Cibola got a great performance from Austin Zapach as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Daniel Kean was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jacob Escobedo was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cibola always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Cibola's record is now 6-1. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Cibola will be playing in front of their home fans against West Mesa at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eldorado, they are taking a road trip to challenge Albuquerque at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eldorado is facing Albuquerque at the right time seeing as Albuquerque is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
