Softball Recap: Fairhope Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

After losing to Bryant the last time they met, Fairhope decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fairhope Pirates had just enough and edged out the Bryant Hurricanes 3-1.

Fairhope got a great performance from Lily Guimarin as she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Guimarin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Bumpers, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Emma Stewart was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Fairhope is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Bryant is on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Coming up, Fairhope will be playing in front of their home fans against Daphne at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Daphne 2.5, Fairhope 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bryant, they will square off against Mobile Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
