Basketball Recap: Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South Takes a Loss

After flying high against Central last Tuesday, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South came back down to earth. The Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South Tigers were beaten by the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets 70-29 on Thursday. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-17.

Gwynn Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Pitts, who posted 23 points and five rebounds. Pitts is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Oliyah Contee was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six boards and four steals.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Gwynn Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
