Baseball Recap: Wheaton-Warrenville South Comes Up Short

Wheaton-Warrenville South made up a huge gap compared to their last game against St. Charles East, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers fell just short of the Fighting Saints by a score of 13-11 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 9-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Jacob Conover made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Wheaton-Warrenville South's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 11-16 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Quartz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Wheaton-Warrenville South has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-17 record this season. As for St. Charles East, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-16.
