Baseball Recap: Lake City Tigers vs. Byron Bears
Lake City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Byron Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 on Tuesday.
Asher Bee and Josh Wohlers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bee went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Wohlers went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Wohlers has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Colter Hegge, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
Lake City's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Byron, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake City will head out to face off against Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Byron, they will venture away from home to take on Winona at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
