Baseball Game Preview: Templeton Eagles vs. Pleasant Valley Vikings

The Templeton Eagles will take on the Pleasant Valley Vikings in a tournament on Monday. Templeton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Templeton barely beat Nipomo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles blew past the Titans 15-5 on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Bo Swan and Andrew Raab did most of the damage at the plate: Swan went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Raab scored four runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Raab has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Dahlen, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Templeton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Valley entered their tilt with Enterprise on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Hornets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 26, 2024.

Holden Franks looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pleasant Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giuseppe Bianchi, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

Pleasant Valley's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Templeton, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
