Volleyball Game Preview: Salem Christian School Defenders vs. Caldwell Academy Eagles

Salem Christian School hasn't had much luck against Caldwell Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Defenders will face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Salem Christian School is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Burlington Christian Academy with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Defenders as it spelled an end to their four-match losing streak.

Salem Christian School never let Burlington Christian Academy on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-22.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Caldwell Academy duked it out with The O'Neal School on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Falcons. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-16, 25-10.

Salem Christian School better focus on containing Lilli Telleysh and Stella Streng as the pair were huge in Caldwell Academy's win. Telleysh had 12 assists and six aces, while Streng had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Telleysh has posted since back in August of 2024.

Caldwell Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 13 aces in three consecutive contests.

Salem Christian School's record now sits at 7-10. As for Caldwell Academy, their record is now 20-6.

Salem Christian School might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Caldwell Academy in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Can the Defenders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
