Softball Recap: Port Huron Drops Season-High Score on Roseville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Port Huron). They blew past the Roseville Panthers 19-3 on Friday. The Red Hawks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kaylie Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Williams was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Brailyn Stephens was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Port Huron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

Port Huron now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Roseville, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Huron will venture away from home to challenge Mott at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Roseville, they will head out to take on L'Anse Creuse North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
