High Point Academy extends road winning streak to nine

Recap: High Point Academy Grizzlies vs. Chesnee Eagles

The High Point Academy Grizzlies had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 47-30 victory over Chesnee. Given High Point Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Chesnee is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

High Point Academy was led to victory by Cherri Yates and Chantel Lyles. Yates scored 12 points, while Lyles scored 16 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Lyles has scored at least 25% of High Point Academy's points. Karla Bracebridge was another key contributor, scoring six points.

When it comes to explaining why Chesnee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Pearl Holloway. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with five rebounds. Holloway scored a full 33.3% of Chesnee's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Faith Watson, who scored six points.

High Point Academy pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.11 points. As for Chesnee, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

High Point Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against Scott's Branch on December 22nd. As for Chesnee, they will challenge R-S Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. R-S Central is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
