The Laconia Spartans will square off against the Mayville Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Laconia was able to grind out a solid victory over Kewaskum, taking the game 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.
While Laconia might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Kewaskum scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 27-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-18.
Meanwhile, Mayville got the win against North Fond du Lac on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Orioles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-16, 25-14.
Laconia better focus on containing Marissa Vander Schaaf and Neva Mittlesdat as the pair were huge in Mayville's win. Vander Schaaf had 11 digs, while Mittlesdat had four digs and three aces. That's the most aces Mittlesdat has posted over her last nine matches.
Mayville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Fond du Lac only served four.
Mayville's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Laconia, their win bumped their record up to 22-6.
Laconia took their victory against Mayville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
