Recap: Humble Wildcats vs. Kingwood Mustangs
The Humble Wildcats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 35-25 to Kingwood. Humble was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kingwood apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacory Johnson, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Marquez Davis was a one-man wrecking crew for Kingwood as he rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Davis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jailen Monegan, who picked up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Humble's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Kingwood, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.
Humble will head out on the road to face off against Beaumont United at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beaumont United will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while Humble is ranked 245th). As for Kingwood, they will be playing at home against North Shore at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in North Shore's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
