Preview: Erie Tigers vs. Monarch Coyotes
Erie is 0-3 against Monarch since December of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Erie Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Monarch Coyotes at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Erie beat Boulder 50-41.
Meanwhile, Monarch scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Prairie View with a sharp 84-62 win. Monarch has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Monarch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Trujillo, who scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals. Another player making a difference was Graham Johnson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Erie's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-9. As for Monarch, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Erie came up short against Monarch in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 64-52. Can Erie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
