Jay County never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Adams Central on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Jets a 16-0 shutout. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Carley Trinidad made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Trinidad was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brenna Ruble and Hallie Schwieterman did most of the damage at the plate: Ruble fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4, while Schwieterman went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Morgan Missicano was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Jay County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adams Central only posted an OBP of .167.
Jay County's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Adams Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Jay County has already played their next contest, a 7-4 victory against Woodlan on the 2nd. As for Adams Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-1 loss against Heritage on the 7th.
