Football Game Preview: West Islip Lions vs. Smithtown West

The West Islip Lions are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Smithtown West at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, West Islip was able to grind out a solid victory over Westhampton Beach, taking the game 28-17. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Meanwhile, Smithtown West made easy work of Hauppauge on Saturday and carried off a 28-7 win. That's two games straight that Smithtown West has won by exactly 21 points.

West Islip's record is now 2-0. As for Smithtown West, their record now sits at an identical 2-0.

West Islip ended up a good deal behind Smithtown West in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, losing 35-16. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
