Baseball Recap: Bishop Hartley Has No Trouble Against Canal Winchester

Bishop Hartley was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Canal Winchester Indians. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered a 7-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Bishop Hartley let Nick Galich and Carson Moore run wild. Galich went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Moore went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Moore is becoming a predictor of Bishop Hartley's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 9-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Vincent Mertz, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Bishop Hartley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Canal Winchester, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

Coincidentally, Bishop Hartley and Canal Winchester will both be playing Dublin Scioto the next time they take the field. The Hawks will host the Irish at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Indians will play them later in the day, at 3:30 p.m.
