Baseball Recap: Somerville Comes Up Short

Somerville had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it five. They lost 9-1 to the Milano Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yeguas of the 9-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Milano, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Milano, who have now won ten matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Milano's part, Kellson Miller made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Miller is becoming a predictor of Milano's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 7-8-1 when he doesn't). Miller was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Andres Ruelas was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Daniel Frei, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

While Somerville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
