Basketball Game Preview: North Mahaska Warhawks vs. Moravia Mohawks

The North Mahaska Warhawks will head out to square off against the Moravia Mohawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Mahaska will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Last Tuesday, everything went North Mahaska's way against Colfax-Mingo as North Mahaska made off with a 54-28 victory. Given the Warhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Tigerhawks are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Moravia hadn't done well against Lamoni recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Moravia came out on top against Lamoni by a score of 50-42.

North Mahaska's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Moravia, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for North Mahaska against Moravia when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured an 80-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Mahaska since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
