Football Game Preview: Bishop Neumann Cavaliers vs. Yutan Chieftains

The Bishop Neumann Cavaliers will take on the Yutan Chieftains on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bishop Neumann is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Arlington 34-8. 34 seems to be a good number for the Cavaliers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Beau Fujan looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 89 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passing touchdowns (two).

Bishop Neumann was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 227 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Yutan entered their tilt with Norfolk Catholic on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They claimed a resounding 36-8 victory over the Knights.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Kaleb Fenner and Nathan Timmerman. Fenner had a great game and rushed for 332 yards and two scores while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Timmerman did his best for the losing side, rushing for 48 yards and one touchdown, while also picking up 41 receiving yards.

Bishop Neumann's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Yutan, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Bishop Neumann has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 263 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Yutan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 261.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything went Bishop Neumann's way against Yutan in their previous meeting back in September, as Bishop Neumann made off with a 28-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
