Recap: Holtville Vikings vs. Maranatha Christian Eagles
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Holtville Vikings had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Maranatha Christian at home to the tune of 49-0. The win was familiar territory for Holtville who now have six in a row.
Griffin Garcia was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 151 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Holtville pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.7 points per game. As for Maranatha Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Holtville will take on Army-Navy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Army-Navy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Maranatha Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
