Volleyball Recap: Roncalli Comes Up Short

Roncalli was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings. The Jets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Roncalli lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22.

Gracie Hamann paced Roncalli's offense, picking up 17 kills. Hamann got some help from Addison Manis and her 17 assists. Erin Panosh controlled things from the service line, finishing with ten aces.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy was led to victory by Hailey Wolf and Bella Dowland. Wolf had 30 digs and two aces, while Dowland had 24 digs. Those 24 digs gave Dowland a new career-high. Sam Unger also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Roncalli's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Winnebago Lutheran Academy, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Roncalli didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Kiel on the 25th. As for Winnebago Lutheran Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against St. Mary's Springs on the 25th.
