Basketball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Takes a Loss

Sunrise Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 86-70 to the Basic Wolves. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 81-59 back in January.

Basic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JaMari Cottingham, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Cottingham a new career-high in blocks (four). Kenny Williams was another key player, going 8 of 16 en route to 18 points.

Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Basic, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain has already played their next contest (against Bonanza), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Basic will challenge Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Basic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season.
