The McKinney Boyd Broncos will face off against the Princeton Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. McKinney Boyd is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
McKinney Boyd easily dispatched McKinney on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Broncos fell just short of Allen by a score of 12-10 on Wednesday.
Madison Treadwell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Treadwell was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Addyson Lewis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Leah Teague, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Princeton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They lost 10-2 to Prosper.
Jadyn Walton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Maddie Anguiano was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
McKinney Boyd's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Princeton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-20-1.
Princeton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McKinney Boyd has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Princeton, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given McKinney Boyd's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
McKinney Boyd took their win against Princeton in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
