Softball Recap: West Wilkes Snaps 14-Game Streak of Wins at Home

West Wilkes managed to slip by Alexander Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The West Wilkes Blackhawks lost 13-5 to the Alexander Central Cougars on Monday. The Blackhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

West Wilkes' defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Alexander Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Wilkes will welcome Surry Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be West Wilkes' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Alexander Central, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Maiden at 6:00 p.m.
