Basketball Recap: East Hardy Has No Trouble Against Union

It was a proper cat-fight when East Hardy duked it out withUnion on Tuesday. The East Hardy Cougars were the clear victor by a 55-32 margin over the Union Tigers. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Union saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braylon Ward posted 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Ward has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Linkswiler, who earned six points.

East Hardy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Union, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

East Hardy will head out to square off against Tygarts Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Union, they will take on Paw Paw at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Paw Paw knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Union likes a good challenge.
