Wakefield is 2-7 against Leesville Road since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wolverines will venture away from home to face off against the Pride at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Wakefield has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Wakefield is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since April 10, 2025 on Saturday. They fell just short of Regis Jesuit by a score of 3-1.
Sam Piscorik was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Leesville Road was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of Holly Springs by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pride have suffered against the Golden Hawks since April 3, 2018.
Leesville Road also got a good showing from Jack Fields, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fields has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Leesville Road saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Leesville Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wakefield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Leesville Road struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wakefield suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Leesville Road in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
