Volleyball Recap: Lanier Comes Up Short at Home Against Desoto Central

Lanier unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DeSoto Central Jaguars on Friday.

The final score came out to 25-5, 25-2.

DeSoto Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Loftin, who had seven aces and three assists. Those seven aces gave Loftin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Willis, who had seven aces.

The victory was the third in a row for DeSoto Central, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Lanier didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Bay on the 1st. As for DeSoto Central, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 win against George County on the 2nd.
