Volleyball Recap: St. Louis University Falls Short Against Ranked De Smet Jesuit

St. Louis University faced De Smet Jesuit in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Junior Bills took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The Junior Bills have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

St. Louis University started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-22.

Jack Spowal paced St. Louis University's offense, picking up 16 kills. Spowal got some help from Tanner Zippay and his 30 assists.

St. Louis University's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for De Smet Jesuit, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

After both having extra time off, St. Louis University and Chaminade will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for De Smet Jesuit, they will head out to face off against Christian Brothers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
