Softball Recap: Keystone Heights Takes a Loss

Keystone Heights fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Ridgeview on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-5. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Kadence Massey was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bella Cumbo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Keystone Heights has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Ridgeview, they pushed their record up to 9-14 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

As of now, neither Keystone Heights nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
