Softball Recap: Bishop Amat Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Bishop Amat had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Claremont Wolfpack by a score of 8-3. The Lancers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolfpack, too.

Lauren Sanchez tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kayla Johnson and Bianca Rojo did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Rojo went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Bishop Amat's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Claremont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Bishop Amat and Claremont could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Lancers (ranked 131st) will meet Paraclete (ranked 25th) at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Claremont will challenge Ayala at 3:30 p.m. on the 15th with a big rank disadvantage (368 vs. 19).
