Basketball Recap: Sweetwater Takes a Loss

Sweetwater was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 57-45 to the Roane County Yellowjackets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-40 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Sweetwater saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lilly Woodruff dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 35.6% of Sweetwater's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alysa Gage, who had eight points and three steals.

Sweetwater's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Roane County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Sweetwater has already played their next contest, a 55-51 win against Midway on the 30th. Roane County has also already played their next match (against McMinn Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
