Basketball Recap: DC International Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Idea

On Wednesday, DC International faced Idea in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went the DC International Dragons' way against the Idea Timberwolves as the DC International Dragons made off with a 35-12 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-3.

DC International's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diatou Diop led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Diop has scored at least a third of DC International's points. Another player making a difference was Emma Caraballo, who posted five points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

DC International smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

DC International's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Idea, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

DC International will venture away from home to challenge KIPP College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Idea, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Digital Pioneers Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
