Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Stuart's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Stuart unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. The game between them and the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack didn't end well, with the Stuart Broncos falling 51-36. The Broncos lost against the Wolfpack in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 69-29 score last time.

Elgin/Pope John found their leader in sophomore Braelyn Martinsen, who posted 24 points. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Kurpgeweit, who had ten points.

Stuart's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Elgin/Pope John, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stuart will host Valentine at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elgin/Pope John, they will look to defend their home court on January 24th against West Holt at 6:00 p.m.
