Basketball Game Preview: Campbell County Camels vs. South Laurel Cardinals

The Campbell County Camels will face off against the South Laurel Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Campbell County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Holy Cross, who was ranked 13th at the time (Campbell County was ranked 20th). Campbell County took a hard 59-45 fall against Holy Cross on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Camels in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, South Laurel came tearing into Thursday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 40-36 W against the Jaguars. The 40-point effort marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

South Laurel pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points over those games. As for Campbell County, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
