Basketball Game Preview: Appoquinimink Jaguars vs. St. Georges Tech Hawks

Appoquinimink and St. Georges Tech are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Appoquinimink Jaguars will head out to challenge the St. Georges Tech Hawks at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Appoquinimink's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

Last Wednesday, Appoquinimink humbled Christiana with a 61-24 victory. That looming 61-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Jaguars yet this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Georges Tech). They put the hurt on Polytech with a sharp 82-58 victory on Saturday. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season.

Appoquinimink better focus on containing Joshua Obiora and Jayden Reid as the pair were huge in St. Georges Tech's win. Obiora dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 boards, while Reid almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Obiora's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. David Crawford was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Appoquinimink's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for St. Georges Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Appoquinimink came up short against St. Georges Tech when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 68-61. Thankfully for Appoquinimink, Blair Thomas (who went 8 of 15 on his way to 26 points along with eight boards and six assists) won't be suiting up this time.
