Baseball Recap: George School Comes Up Short

George School had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it six. They came up short against Calvary Christian Academy, falling 25-14. Even if George School couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Calvary Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5. Considering they have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Calvary Christian Academy's part, Caleb Leader made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Leader has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Calvary Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Adam Lohwasser was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gary Wilcox, who earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, George School will square off against Germantown Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will welcome MAST Community Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
