Basketball Game Preview: Amherst County Lancers vs. Liberty Minutemen

The Amherst County Lancers will take on the Liberty Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amherst County has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 20.

On Friday, Amherst County lost to Jefferson Forest on the road by a 62-48 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 132nd).

Meanwhile, Liberty's game on Friday was all tied up 17-17 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 40-33 to Rustburg.

Amherst County's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Liberty, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4.

Amherst County might still be hurting after the 63-38 loss they got from Liberty in their previous meeting on Monday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Liberty's Moriah Tate, who went 10-for-14 en route to 29 points and seven steals.
