Baseball Recap: Lick-Wilmerding's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lick-Wilmerding had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 8-11 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the San Domenico Panthers 8-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Braden Pollock and Aidan Baird did most of the damage at the plate: Pollock went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Baird got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Baird a new career-high. Kian Perrone was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.

Lick-Wilmerding always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for San Domenico, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On San Domenico's side, Colin Falconer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Falconer has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Mackler, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Lick-Wilmerding will have a chance to go back-to-back against San Domenico: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
